It has always been argued that parents know the best and are the only advisors one needs during one's life. Couldn't agree more except while taking decisions regarding children's career, it is important to have an updated knowledge about what are the options available and where does the child fit in.
I would always advise parents to have a thorough understanding of the career scenario which is quite complex than what it used to be earlier. The possibilities are infinite and the combinations unlimited. The trick is to find the perfect career fit for the child which help them to be successful and happy.
Over the years some very unusual combinations of careers have come through which many times people are not aware. This is the reason why a counselor helps get clarity.
There have been times when just by having conversation with someone outside your own purview gives an insight. But that someone should be one who has an idea of the outside world. It opens up a whole new world and endless possibilities which can be explored.
Parents need to understand and work alongside the counsellor to enable the child to make a correct decision
